When I met Matt, I had just joined the gym and was taking some of the classes available. I was at the beginning of a huge change in my life, and was bringing an active lifestyle into it to better myself. Matt had taught a class and mentioned he also taught kickboxing. I had ALWAYS been interested in that, and figured I could finally take advantage of a great opportunity. When I started with Matt in Feb 2015, I was around 160lbs. I set a realistic goal of 145, and was able to reach that it!
Training with Matt has been more than hitting a goal number for me. I’ve finally become comfortable, and knowledgeable enough, to be able to go to the gym and not second guess myself. I never quite knew what I was doing, so I didn’t have the confidence to finish a workout alone. I’ve also been able to use kickboxing as a great stress release! Even when I was a teenager, I asked my parents for a punching bag to have a good release for my stress. I finally got what I wanted and I get to kick Matt too! I’ve never felt more confident and comfortable, not only in my own skin, but as to who I am. I couldn’t be in that place without Matt.
The picture above includes 4 pictures. The first two are of me a year ago. I even hid my stomach behind a beer can! The next two pictures are of exactly one year later. I’ve gone from a 8/10, M/L, to a 4/6, S/M. I’m proud of my body, and I see now that when I smile in pictures, I mean it. I’m comfortable to have my picture taken.
